We left Safe Harbor Marina in Oxford, MD at 9:50 am today and immediately were in the midst of a day sailing club out practicing. Some of those kids couldn't have been over 7. It was amazing to see. We also saw a ferry leaving Oxford heading for Bellevue, across the Tred Avon River. We later learned that this is the oldest privately operated ferry service in the U.S., being in operation since 1683!!
We had been cruising for almost an hour when our engine died. We dropped anchor and Richard started troubleshooting. He ended up replacing the Racor fuel filter and bled the manual lift pump to bleed air out of the fuel system. We were anchored for an hour and Richard thankfully got the engine started again. Our engine temperature typically runs at 200 degrees F, and Richard had to get down in the engine room next to the engine and work, so our boy was sweating for sure by the time he was finished (not to mention that it was 92 degrees outside today). He worked while I prayed and passed him tools. Thankfully the Lord answered our prayers, and we were on our way again.
We pulled into Higgins Yacht Center at St. Michael's, MD and docked at 3:45. The staff met us at the dock and helped us tie off. They made quick work of it, and we were very thankful. After cooling off for a little bit in the AC, we decided to walk to a nearby restaurant called Foxy's Harbor Grille. We had dinner there and listened to a couple musicians. After dinner, we walked a few streets on our way back to the boat and saw some beautiful homes. Richard ordered some spare parts to replace the ones he used today, and they will be here in the morning. There is so much to see here at St. Michael's, that we think we will explore some more tomorrow and stay for another night.
